Moorland Rd Part 3

This trail begins at The Grumpy Baker, Moorland Rd, Bath UK.
 
Chapter one

1 The Grumpy Baker

If you are good at school you can visit the Grumpy Baker on Moorland rd. In 1893 it was a carpenters shop and then in 1920 it changed to a Recruiting Agency followed by a shoe shop, then coats and gowns . More recently it has been a florist and finally as you see it today the Grumpy Baker.
Chapter two

2 Park Pets

Welcome to Number 2 Moorland Rd. I like getting toys and dog treats for my grandfathers dogs, I recommend the pigs ears.

Sometimes you can see a dog in the window display. In 2018 Number 2 Moorland Road is Park Pets but it started off as a cabinet Maker.
The next location is to the right of the Grumpy Baker, walk along the pavement for it to reveal.
 
Chapter three

3 Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes used to be a drug store and a chemist for quite a while . But it was also an upholster, carpenter and turf agent. Nowadays people use the shop to bet on football matches, races and all sorts of other things! We bet you are loving this story walk! Pun intended.
Chapter four

4 Planet Beauty

For quite a few years up until now, Planet Beauty was a Butchers .Where people would buy their meat. It got shut down because people started to use Sainsburys instead as it meant they only had to stop once to do all their shopping.
Chapter five

5 Herbies fish & chips

This shop used to be dry cleaners where Jack`s Nan used to work every Tuesday & Thursday. Lots of people liked it because it had good diversity.

Chapter six

6-7 Natwest

It started as a butcher where you could buy delicious meat. then, it went on to be a hairdressers where you could get your hair cut. After that, it was an outfitters until 1960 and changed to City Outfitter Co. Then in 1970 it was NatWest Bank and it remains this until today.
Chapter seven

Bank Cont.

From 1893 it was Bath and somerset Dairy CO all the way until 1920. A whopping 27 years! since then,no 6 has been a butcher, a grocers and eventually a bank.

Chapter eight

8 Panahar Indian

In 1893, the shop that is now named 'Panahar Indian' was named 'Telegraphist'. It has had ten changes. We also found out that it was a shop which got taken down, but then brought back up. Andre's grandad's neighbour worked at the 'Fish Monger'.
Chapter nine

9 Madison Oakly

Do you know what a milliner is? Well a milliner is a shop that sells ladies hats! bet you didn't
see that coming. For 50 years number 9 sold ladies hats, but now it sells houses instead.
back in 1920 number 9 was a grocer for 10-20 years but even before that, in 1893 it was a carpenter selling wood to the public.

Chapter ten

10 Polish Shop

At Moorland Road there are lots of nice shop's including this lovely Polish Shop.Over the years it has been a tobacconist and a confectioner lots of times.It has had 4 uses all together. Ola's mum sometimes buys things from here as she is Polish. This shop was recently closed and we are unsure whether it will come back, but we all have our fingers crossed that it will.
Chapter eleven

11 Age of steam

Age of steam was mostly a Butchers but it got shut down because it was barely used.All the people went to different shops to buy things. These days some people think they would like something healthier than cigarettes.

Chapter twelve

12 bath building society

back in the 1890's there was a composter and then it went in to a greengrocer with lots of fruit and veg. After, it became a plumbers and after it was a drapers for a long time for 50 years in 2018 bath building society.
Chapter thirteen

13 Bath Building society

Back in the 1890's no. 13 was a compositor and a draper in the 1900's. The Boot makers was there for around about 30 years and people loved their boots for walking around Moorland Road.
Chapter fourteen

14-15 Dorothy House

Number 15 and 14 is currently Dorothy House which is a charity shop and people go there to get clothes and toys. People donate lots of items so over people can buy them.In the past number 14 has been a builder's shop,a sweet shop, a stationer and a toy shop. Number 15 started as a grocer and from 1900 to 1930 was a boot maker then to 1940 to 1960 it was a jewellers
